Nachdem wir die Stadtluft dann auch mal wieder satt hatten, ging es per Bus an die Kueste Kambodschas nach Sihanoukville, von wo aus uns ein Boot auf das kleine und relativ wenig besuchte Inselparadies Koh Rong Samleom brachte. Unser Vorhaben dort war sowohl sportlicher als auch biologischer Natur, denn wir wollten lernen, wie man unter Wasser bepackt mit ca. 15-20 kg durch einen Luftschlauch atmet …jawohl, wir haben einen Tauchkurs gemacht 🙂 Die Korallenriffe um die kleine Insel herum waren reich an Kleinstlebewesen, so dass wir Lebewesen wie schwarz gruen gepunktete Seeschnecken, kleine Clownfische in ihren beschützenden Anemonen schwimmend, zwei gruen-braeunlich Kugelfische, verschieden geformte und farbige Hart- und Weichkorallen (die witzigste sah aus wie ein Gehirn, daher traegt sie auch den Namen Hirnkoralle), faszinierende gelbe Falterfische und sogar zwei Kuenstler der Camouflage … Steinfische. Am meisten konnten wir jedoch wundervoll blauschwarz schimmernde Seeigel mit ihrer anmutigen radiaersymmetrischen Gestalt und ihren fuenf augenaehnlichen Gebilden (ich weiss nicht genau, was es war, aber da Seeigel keine Augen besitzen und auch nur einen Anus bin ich mit meinen Biologiekenntnissen am Ende) ausmachen und viele weitere bunt gefaerbte Unterwasserlebewesen, die wir nicht alle identifizieren konnten. Leider ist unsere Kamera nicht wassertauglich, sodass wir hier keine Unterwasserbilder veroeffentlichen koennen 🙁 Unser Ausflug auf das Inselparadies hat sich aber definitiv mehr als gelohnt! After a while in the city we really needed to get some fresh and unpolluted air again. So jumped on bus to the coast city Sihanoukville from where we took a boat to the tiny little island paradise called Koh Rong Samleom. What we wanted to do there was of a sportiv as well as of a biological interest/ nature. We were eager to learn how to breathe through an underwater airhose with 15-20 kg weight on your back…yes we did a diving course. Most of the days we spent under water or reading about the course theoretics, so we had barely time to explore the island much. The underwaterworld was just great… we swam past lots of different shaped and coloured soft and hard corals…some of the weirdest ones looking like the human brain, we got surrounded by huge fish swarms of handsized transparent(ish) fish who were coming close to curiously watch the foreigners invading their territory. The underwater habitants we spotted most were black sea urchins with their radiarsymmetry shaped body, in every direction pointed long menacing spines and their 5 “eyes” they looked like were from another planet. Furthermore we found starfish, a lot of different yellow coloured butterfly fish, a ridiculously great camouflaged stone fish, greatly coloured sea slugs (nudibranch) anemones in which little clownfish sought protection and many many more colourful fish which were hard for us to identify on this first dive. Unfortunately we couldn’t take a camera under water so you miss out on all the picturesque greatness of this wonderful ecosystem. All in all it was a great trip to the little island in Cambodias south and well enough “beach time” for us!
